Salt River Project Sometimes there’s nothing more innovative than good planning and good execution. When the Salt River Project (SRP) Coronado Generating Station needed to undergo an emissions control project, the challenge was to safely install state-of-the-art pollution reduction technology while minimizing disruptions to the plant.
The project required a 56-day outage. Sundt bid the job with confidence we could complete the work in just 28 days. In fact, we completed it in just 21. The strategy for success wasn’t a major technical breakthrough, just the ability to find basic innovations and plan the details of the schedule. Through collaboration with SRP and our ability to effectively plan and execute the work, the challenge was met.
• The team worked double shifts during very windy weather conditions at this remote jobsite during the outage.
• We used oxygen lances to expedite demolition of old duct work and structures in very congested areas before new equipment was installed.
• We provided detailed schedule updates on a daily basis for planning purposes and for providing customer status reports.
