For University of Phoenix, the leading online education institution, building a campus can be challenging, knowing that its use will always evolve.
The Riverpoint Center in Phoenix serves as the worldwide headquarters for the Apollo Group. The educational provider is home to a number of online and traditional educational programs, including the University of Phoenix. The headquarters provides significant operational space for its online learning programs. The 10-story main building started out as a training center and virtual education facility, but on a tour of the project under construction, the CEO decided it should become the new corporate headquarters. The group also determined that they needed more classrooms than they originally thought, and that evolving technology was changing how they would teach.
Sundt built the Riverpoint Center, a 37-acre campus, to have the flexibility to meet any and all of these changes. Today, it consists of one ten-story building and two six-story buildings that total 600,000 square feet, plus two parking garages and surface lots with more than 4,000 spaces. The facility provides the educational institution with a hub to centralize its online learning programs and consolidate its headquarters in new and beautiful surroundings.
